Lo mejorcito es configurar tu placa de sonido en alsa (alsaconf). Y luego
configurar en alsa para que use dmix. Sobre eso podes cargar artsd y/o esd.
Si tenes instalado libasound2 tenés un ejemplo en
/usr/share/doc/libasound2/examples/asound.conf_dmix
Copialo a /etc/aound.conf y proba.
